 This paper illustrates the control strategy for mitigating the electromechanical oscillations in the power system using the combined co-ordination of unified power flow controller (UPFC) and superconducting magnetic energy storage unit (SMES). The load angle deviation is improved during the three phase to ground faults and experimentally done using MATLAB. The system is done under PI controller. The obtained result reveals that the combination of UPFC and SMES can damp the oscillations quicker and the settling time after the clearance of the fault is improved when compared to the ordinary conventional UPFC.
