Entrepreneurship — setting up new businesses — can stimulate innovation and invigorate local markets. Entrepreneurs assemble resources including innovations, finance and business acumen in an effort to transform innovations into economic goods. Entrepreneurship is one of the best sources to empower women. Women empowerment is an essential component for human resource development. Women in advanced nations are recognized and are more prominent in the business world. In Kerala, although women constitute more than half of the population, entrepreneurial world is still a male dominated world. The number of women entrepreneurs is increasing and the number is likely to grow in the coming years. More and more women are occupying significant positions in industries - traditional and nontraditional. Center and all the state governments are providing various supports for the development of women entrepreneurs of their states. To explore the phenomena of women entrepreneurship, the researcher studied 300 women entrepreneurs in the state of Kerala. The study is primarily descriptive in nature. The objectives of the present research are to understand the socio economic and business profile of women entrepreneurs. Lastly, have some observations and conclusions.
