A family is the very first unit of change. The structure of a family depicts all the characteristic features of a society, whether it is economic or social. This article deals with both the social and economic conditions of a family. For this study, the ownership of a house, type of house, available facilities in a household i.e. separate kitchen, bathroom, latrine and electric appliances, size of family, joint or nuclear, preferred domestic animals and place of keeping animals in a house have been studied. Research findings show all the current changes taking place in rural Indian society. The economic conditions are changing and the demand for luxury items is increasing, but the practice of small family size is still lacking behind. The practice of nuclear family is increasing with the introduction of non-agricultural occupation in village itself.
