The Normalised Difference Water Index (NDWI) is used to delineate the change of land use of a certain geographical region now-a-days. It is an innovative technique by using the application of Remote Sensing. East Calcutta wet land is considered as study area in this paper and a temporal variation of land use has been detected from 1986 to 2009 by using this technique.
