This study is aimed at exploring the need for soft skills among those involved in teaching technology to students in engineering colleges. Soft skills are as important, if not more important, than traditional hard skills to a technology teacher to attain higher levels of success not only in teaching but also in managing his relationships effectively in the institution. Regardless of the subject he teaches, a teacher should possess at least the essentials of soft skills such as communication, interpersonal, team building, critical thinking, positive attitude etc. If a teacher lacks soft skills, there is no way he can effectively deliver his lectures to the present generation students in a classroom. Hence teachers must concentrate on developing their soft skills for better subject delivery and relationships.
A month long training on soft skills was given to a select group of engineering teachers. Pre and Post-training assessments were conducted. After the training many of the participants have reported improvement in their behavior and task management.
