The main aim of the study is to assess the educational benefits and challenges of internships among hospitality and tourism students in Sunyani polytechnic. Sets of questionnaires were administered to the respondents. The findings of the study portray that internship does make an important contribution to developing key generic skills in students. However, students faced challenges such as social, economic, technical and lack of professional commitment during internship. It is recommended that, polytechnic educators and industrial representatives should be actively involved in supervising the students during internships.
