Role Of Media In Promoting Human Rights During J&K Assembly Election: A Study Of 2008 & 2014 Assembly Elections

We often watch Human Rights debate on various news channels & read news and articles about Human Rights violations in Newspaper, news websites and some other places. We always blame media that media has sold their soul of actual, fruitful and public interest journalism. It is always discussed that the issues related to lay man, people living in remote areas and villages are now being invisible in the media debates. It is discussed that sensible issues like human rights violation are missing in news these days. But the questions raises that is this the whole truth? Is media not covering even a single issue of human rights violations and issues related to lay man? The answer is that media is giving enough space for issues related to human rights, lay man time to time as per requirement. This is also truth that the space what should have given to human rights and other issues is not being given in the appropriate numbers. But it doesn’t mean that media is totally ignoring these issues. This research paper will highlight the Role of Media in promoting human rights in Jammu & Kashmir during Election : A study of 2008 & 2014 Assembly election of J&K. This paper will help readers to know about the role of the Media in promoting human Rights during these two J&K assembly elections with few incident and examples. Apart from this, this research paper will help us to know the concept of human rights in respect of National and International Laws related to Human Rights.
